BRAZIL The Nature Conservancy 2005-2007
In 2005 and again in 2007 I traveled to Brazil for The Nature Conservancy (TNC) to document some of the ecosystems that they are working to protect. Included in this coverage are the Pantanal wetlands, the vast Cerrado grasslands, the impoverished Caatinga in the northeastern portion of the country, and the rapidly disappearing Atlantic Forest. Originally stretching along the eastern corridor of Brazil, the Atlantic Forest is quickly being replaced by the urban sprawl that spills out from such cities as Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Curtiba. Images from this coverage have been used in TNC's annual reports, on their website, in brochures and in a feature article in the Summer 2008 issue of Nature Conservancy Magazine. |
