FIRST WORLD
From retired uranium miners, Navajo rodeos and Cajun folklore to the Zuni Indians and the haunting landscape of the American Southwest, this country has much to offer in terms of timeless imagery. This collection reflects some of the venerable traditions, indigenous folkways, and natural landscapes that that I have photographed over the years. Most of these images were produced as personal work.

OTHER PLACES
Photographing in other nations is probably as rewarding as it sounds. Everything is new and different. People and places seem more exotic and so much embraces centuries of tradition. Many of these images were taken in Cuba, a treasure chest of fascinating sights. Other images originated in Central and South America, and a few are from India and China. The common thread that runs through this body of work is the unfiltered beauty of the human experience and the lands in which it unfolds.

SIBERIA
Having made my first trip to northwestern Siberia and the homeland of the Khanty in 1997, I have since returned many times to document these indigenous Siberians and their rapidly disappearing way of life. Much of Russia's oil comes from this region and the resulting environmental devastation is considerable. As for photos worthy of wall space, images of reindeer, frozen taiga lands and quintessential native Siberians are all good bets.

POINT & SHOOT
When I was told by a client that they would not accept images shot with a point & shoot camera I immediately rose to the challenge. The camera in question is the Leica D-Lux 3. In addition to the benefits of working with a piece of equipment that fits in my pocket, I am also intrigued by the camera's 16:9 format. Many of these images were taken at night, after jettisoning my SLR equipment back at the hotel. Still others were shot in my own backyard. Given the newfound freedom of working in this manner, I have even dabbled in the pop art genre.
